  • New Generation Materials and Methods Using the New Security Regulations Available Lighter Car Body Development funded by TÜBİTAK TEYDEB 1501, 01/2015 – 12/2016. Description: To reduce the amount of waste gases disrupting ecological balance, without compromising on safety, without giving up comfort, the development of light vehicles has been an important problem for car manufacturers. • Developing Interior Trim Coverings with Composite Materials of Natural Fiber Reinforced, Biopolymer Matrix, Fabric Coated funded by TÜBİTAK TEYDEB 1501, 07/2016 – 06/2018. Within the scope of the project, it is aimed to work on the front pole top coverings which are integrated with the security components such as curtain airbags and which are in direct view of the user. The production of these parts in the existing projects of TOFAŞ in plastic injection molds varies depending on the need but is usually made of polypropylene (PP) material. With the method to be developed in this project, the problems of high mold cost investment in production, long time changes and cost changes on the mold will be overcome. In addition, the amount of CO2 produced during PP material production causes the parts to move away from environmentalism. In this project, materials that are more environmentally friendly, lighter and have higher technical performance and quality perception will be produced. The proposed method is as follows; natural fiber reinforced, biopolymer matrix and textile coated outer surface of the composite plate with thermoforming to form and overmoulding method or hotmelt with the support and connection elements on the part is applied. PLA (polylactic acid) will be used as a matrix in the composite plate. Thanks to the natural fiber reinforcement, the weight gain is foreseen as the part gains both the environmental characteristics and the desired strength values at lower wall thickness.
